Shocks and surprises this past Halloween
San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili went out on Halloween as Batman against the Sacramento Kings this past Saturday. A lone bat somehow gained entrance into the AT&T Center and disturbed the play of the game once. The death bell tolled for the bat though on its second flight over the court as Ginobili focused on the bat and swatted it out of midair. The video can be seen here http://tinyurl.com/yazspa8. The best part of this story though is the comments made by Ginobili the following day to the media. “I got like a million shots for rabies,” said Ginobili. “It’s something that’s not fun to do.” But any children out there just follow Ginobili’s advice, “Kids don’t do it at home! Don’t handle bats or swat them or anything!” The rest of the interview can be seen here, http://tinyurl.com/yehcctv.
One-half suspension!? Really?
Football is a rough sport, we all know that. But when does the roughness cross the line. Well that line was crossed when Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes decided that he was not done yet when he started to gouge the eye of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey. (http://tinyurl.com/ycqefnp) This absolutely crossed the line. But what is really upsetting is that Florida coach Urban Meyer will only discipline Spikes for the first half of the Florida v. Vanderbilt game this weekend. Florida’s game this weekend should be easy against Vanderbilt, 2-7 (0-5 in the SEC, so Meyer can suspend Spikes for longer. Spikes should not be on the field this Saturday.
Danica Patrick making the move to NASCAR???
IndyCar racer Danica Patrick is reportedly close to driving for Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the NASCAR Nationwide series. Patrick would be the first regular women drivers in NASCAR since Patty Moise in 1995. This would be a great move for the sport, but can hurt her in the long run. NASCAR’s schedule is extremely long as compared to IndyCar. She is a good driver and will definitely bring more spectators to an already popular sport, but she would be better off in IndyCar.
